One year later....

I currently feel like I am in a strange time-warp. Has it really been 12 months since the COVID-19 pandemic led to us closing the office and business coming to a near grinding halt?? Is it really only March and isn't it Summer yet? For me personally, time has really dragged since Christmas as we wait for restrictions to ease but the last year seems to have raced by and is a bit of a blur - how can that be?!

I'll be the first to admit that I never thought the coronavirus crisis would impact the UK like it did. I thought we'd be at home for maybe a month or two before settling back into normality. My optimistic (naive!) outlook was certainly incorrect and to say we are still in the midst of the pandemic a full year later is both gut-wrenching and frustrating. 

As a business we are fortunate to have reached this milestone still in tact and relatively unscathed, which I am incredibly thankful for. Thinking back to the uncertainty, stress and anxiety of not knowing how the crisis would impact the Company, I am relieved and thankful to be sat here today in the position we are in. I'm sure that my colleagues would say that I didn't express my concerns outwardly or appear stressed, but I do feel like I've aged 10 years over the last 12 months! 

The reason for this post is two-fold.

The first is to say a huge Thank You to our staff for sticking with the business over the past year or so. I am fully aware that every one of us has had our challenges over the last 12 months and the pandemic has taken its toll in terms of our well-being.  Every member of our staff has remained positive, upbeat and supportive of the situation and I'm really thankful for that.  It would have been lovely to mark this milestone with a celebratory meal and drinks, which we'll save for another time, but well done guys - WE MADE IT!

Secondly I would also like to thank our wonderful clients and candidates who have also been incredibly supportive over the past year. Any client that has passed business our way, any candidate who we have managed to support, any friends or family who have also supported our staff and the business - THANK YOU! 

Whilst I still can't believe where the last 12 months have gone, I am looking forward to seeing where the next 12 months will take the business. Bring it on!
