Think Accountancy and Finance have just completed a detailed call with an outstanding school based in Tring!

Described as a “Magical” place to work they are now seeking a School Finance Manager to join their team.

The ideal candidate will be Qualified ACCA or CIMA and will have worked in a school or a charity setting. The position is full time in the office Monday to Friday.

This is an integral position within the school being responsible for the day-to-day management and control of the management accounting function for the school, including supporting the Business Director in the preparation of the annual budget and ensuring that budgetary control is maintained with accurate financial and performance information delivered regularly and promptly to budget holders and other users of the accounts. You will also lead on finance system development and administration covering purchase ordering, forecasting and management of the school’s administration team.

We are seeking candidates who have experience in the following areas:

• Strong finance systems experience
• Microsoft Excel to a high standard due to the large volumes of data
• Delivering results to a tight timescales
• Good working knowledge of VAT and corporation tax
• Strong payroll experience
• Charity accounting knowledge – SORP
• UK GAAP experience
• Team management experience

Main role duties include:

• Maintaining journals and nominal ledgers
• Ensuring the integrity of systems of financial control
• Developing and maintaining accounting systems
• Ensuring in conjunction with the Business Director that sufficient funds are available to allow all payments to be met on the due date
• Preparing monthly management accounts
• Liaising with the school’s auditors in the production of the Statutory Accounts
• Preparation of the annual budget
• Providing financial input and reports, as required, for the Business Director and Budget holders
• Overseeing the management and delivery of the payroll and pensions systems, including annual returns to the Teachers Pensions Agency.
• HMRC submissions
• Overseeing the management and delivery of the Grant schemes
• Overseeing the work of the school’s administration team
• Assisting the Business Director with submissions to Companies House and the Charity Commission
• Project work covering new system implementation and efficiency related projects
