We’re recruiting for a Hybrid Quantity Surveyor/Project Manager for a construction company based in Hemel Hempstead that have grown immensely over the past few years and still going through growth and moving into new areas.
This is a new role to the company alongside that growth and would be to focus on their projects and work in the South, anywhere below Milton Keynes in the country.
They specialise in contracts for high security-controlled environments, hospitals, educational establishments and more.
There is a future plan in place and there will be room to step up into a Senior Project Manager one day.
A full-time permanent job working Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, about 60% of the job being done in the Hemel office and then the rest of it being either site visits or the option to work from home.
A salary of £45k to £55k for the right person + 15% worth of bonusses available in quarterly and yearly bonusses.
As part of the role you need QS experience, you need to be able to drive and ideally will need a clear criminal record for access to their clients.
Responsibilities
· Provide contractual advice to the business and the project team, informing appropriate management of contractual issues and ensure the delivery team understand the contractual conditions
· Day to day contract and commercial management including managing communication and notifications to timescales, payment assessment, managing and valuing change and early warnings and review of claims.
· Cost planning, budget estimating, review and challenge contractor estimates, feedback into benchmarking and lessons learnt.
· Monitor actual costs against budget and prepare contract forecasts, identification of commercial risks and opportunities.
· Lead on regular cost and contract audits to ensure contractor compliance with contract conditions.
· Lead on communication commercially with your project clients.
· Potential in the future to oversee and mentor Assistant Quantity Surveyors, Commercial Assistants Graduates, Apprentices and provide on-going support in their professional development.
· Review and respond to contractual matters.
· Manage own portfolio of works.
· Lead on all commercial matters in meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
· Ensure all commercial and contractual issues are resolved and dealt with in a timely manner.
· Manage relationship with the supply chain.
· Review completed designs for Commercial and Contractual compliance.
· Assist other departments as and when required.
· Weekly reports to be sent to stakeholders/ management team.
What do we need from you?
· Have demonstrable experience within the Construction/Infrastructure industry in an estimating role with proven commercial awareness and experience of using different forms of contract (NEC and JCT preferable)
· Hold, or be working towards a BSc.(H) in Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management or hold relevant experience to display a deep understanding of Quantity Surveying.
· Working towards or have the inclination to pursue membership of a relevant professional body (MCIOB, MRICS).
· You will have the ability to use office software products to contribute to production / maintenance of a range of reports, documents, and spreadsheets.
· You will have good written and verbal communication skills enabling you to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
· Superior Construction knowledge.
· The ability to multitask and work under pressure.
· Good time management skills.
